The brave young captain from Amsterdam who was the very pride of his fleet – whose hubris lead him into a wager with the Devil himself. But the Devil was too clever and now the Dutchman must sail the seas for all eternity.
Scotland 1883, in a remote fishing village Donald McIntyre is a commercial fisherman, who, due to a series of poor outings finds himself on the verge of financial ruin. One more bad haul will mean he loses everything.
Back in the village, Donald’s 18 year old daughter Sally dreams of a better life far from her little village. Her good-for-nothing boyfriend Eric appears and disappears regularly leaving her despondent, wondering if he’ll ever “pop the question”.
Meanwhile out at sea, Donald is having his worst haul ever and the crew is about to mutiny. He prays to God for a miracle and his prayer is “answered” when a mysterious ship with blood-red sails appears. Its Captain offers to help Donald financially, lamenting he has more money than he needs but no one to spend it on. Donald sees an opportunity to “kill two birds” and invites the Dutchman to stay with him when they reach land. And that’s when the fun begins…because, as legend has it: the Dutchman may only set foot on dry land once every seven years for a period of seven days. If during that time he can find a woman of virtue to share his fate, knowingly and willfully, only then will the curse be lifted.
Will Sally marry the Dutchman?
Will the curse be lifted?
Will the Dutchman finally find salvation? And if so, what will happen to Sally?
Will Sally's "fiancé" have other plans?
The answer to these questions and many more will soon be coming to a theater near you!
